Giving is an act of worship
When we give we are planting spiritual seeds in the kingdom of God. It is an investment in the spiritual growth of others and it can help us grow in our ability to see God’s work in us.
We are called to glorify him with our time, resources, and treasure. Scripture encourages generosity in supporting the gospel-centered mission of the Church.
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:19-21 ESV

The Theology of Giving
Giving money to the church doesn’t give us more favor with God or guarantee that we will have financial success. It is simply a way that we can live out what we say that we believe: that God is our greatest treasure and that we are here to spend our lives in thankfulness to Him. Giving is a way to build trust in God’s provision, instead of what we think we can provide for ourselves. It is a way of investing in the Kingdom of Heaven for God’s glory instead of seeking to build our own kingdom for our own glory.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (ESV) Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
Luke 16:13 (ESV) No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
How Your Money Will be Used
The leadership of The Journey Church is committed to being good stewards of the financial offering of our congregation. We print a summary of all giving in our Sunday bulletin and would be happy to any specific questions that you may have about the finances of the church.
